Spaceflight and ISILaunch Team to Provide Global Spaceflight Services for Small Payloads

Spaceflight Services (Spaceflight) and Innovative Space Logistics BV (ISILaunch) announced today that they have teamed to create a global spaceflight services provider for small and secondary payloads.

Spaceflight and ISILaunch currently offer spaceflight services on a variety of orbital and suborbital vehicles for small and secondary payloads, with operations centered in the United States (US) and Europe respectively. Under this joint marketing agreement Spaceflight and ISILaunch will provide a global spaceflight service for the launch of small and secondary payloads by jointly marketing a combined set of products and services to prospective customers.

Spaceflight will be the lead organization for integrating prospective orbital and suborbital payloads flying on US launch vehicles and suborbital platforms. In addition, Spaceflight will be the primary interface for US companies that want to fly on non-US launch vehicles.

ISILaunch will be the lead organization for integrating prospective orbital and suborbital payloads flying on non-US launch vehicles and suborbital platforms, as well as be the primary interface for non-US customers that want to fly on US vehicles.

Jason Andrews, President and CEO of Spaceflight Services, said, “We are very pleased to team with ISILaunch Services and provide a global service offering. They are a demonstrated leader having contracted more than ten payloads in the past years and successfully launched four satellites in 2009.”

Abe Bonnema, Managing Director of ISILaunch Services, said, “By joining forces with SpaceFlight Spaceflight Services we have created the unique opportunity to connect the dots between the different customers and flight opportunities worldwide.”

Continued Andrews, “The commercial rideshare approach Spaceflight and ISILaunch offer provides truly revolutionary global space access at significant savings compared to purchasing a dedicated vehicle. For certain payload sizes this is an entirely new capability at a compelling price point.”

Spaceflight and ISILaunch are currently offering orbital flight opportunities to Low Earth Orbit starting in 2011 and flight opportunities to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit and Low Lunar Orbit in 2014. For a full list of pricing for CubeSats, NanoSats, MicroSats and ESPA spacecraft, please visit Spaceflight Services at www.spaceflightservices.com or ISILaunch at www.isilaunch.com.

A2 Technologies Receives Research Contract From The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

A2 Technologies announces today that it has received a three year research contract from the Federal Aviation Administration to study the effectiveness of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) for determining damage to composite materials used in civilian aircraft applications.

The project will focus on three main tasks. A2 Technologies’ hand-held Exoscan FTIR system will be used to develop the methodology for determining, thermal, UV and chemical damage to composites. Once this is developed, it will be used to detect the full extent of damage in composite panels and to monitor and aid in bonding and repair processes. These methods will then be implemented to enable the Exoscan system to be used by qualified non-destructive evaluation personnel in field trials. Collaborating on this project with A2 Technologies is The Center for Composite Materials at the University of Delaware.

Jon Frattaroli, CEO of A2 Technologies states “We developed Exoscan as an easy-to-use, high performance, hand-held FTIR spectrometer in order to expand the use of this widely used analytical technique to non-laboratory applications. We are delighted that the FAA has seen the potential value of FTIR spectroscopy as a non-destructive analysis technology for use in aircraft manufacturing and maintenance. We are excited to work with our outstanding collaborators to prove the value of this technology.”

For more information, please contact Dr. Alan Rein, Vice President Business Development, A2 Technologies at 201-909-8824 or arein@a2technologies.com or visit www.a2technologies.com

About A2 Technologies
Headquartered in Danbury, Connecticut, A2 Technologies is taking FTIR spectroscopy out of the lab and into the field. A2 Technologies manufactures and develops portable FTIR spectrometers designed for the analytical needs of the petrochemical, environmental, transportation, mining and other general environments where there is a need for analysis. The portable FTIR analyzers extend the proven capabilities of Fourier Transform Infrared technology by rendering sample preparation obsolete and ensuring real time results. VEGA and Salamander to deliver a unified message of best practice to support the implementation of Through Life Capability Management (TLCM) for the UK MoD

VEGA Group PLC (VEGA), the specialist Professional Services Company, together with The Salamander Organisation (TSO), has delivered a unified message of best practice to support the implementation of Through Life Capability Management (TLCM) for the UK MoD at last year’s RUSI C4ISTAR Conference.

The conference concept, “Operational Requirements for the Next 5 Years” examines the issues facing the successful delivery UK C4ISTAR capability. The challenges include austere operational requirements, a finite defence budget and the implementation of Through Life Capability Management (TLCM) within the UK’s Defence Acquisition Change Programme. In such an environment, the ability to make the informed acquisition decisions is paramount if the most effective military capability is to be acquired for the frontline commands.

VEGA Government & Defence Director, Peter Armstrong and TSO Chief Technology Officer, Dick Whittington will jointly present to the main conference. They will deliver a presentation proposing how the two companies, in conjunction with Defence Prime BAE Systems, can enable the MoD’s C4ISTAR acquisition stakeholders to understand and visualise the true value of the future C4ISTAR capability portfolio, across all Defence Lines of Development. VEGA and TSO are confident that their solution will reduce the workload of those charged with making difficult procurement decisions and instill confidence that that these decisions will deliver the comprehensive C4ISTAR capability as demanded by the Front Line Commands.

VEGA supports the C4ISTAR community in the specification, acquisition, security, integration and deployment of through-life, network-enabled capability, to ensure that it delivers the operational benefits for which it is intended. The company is a main sponsor of the RUSI C4ISTAR conference which takes place at the Five Lakes Resort, Maldon, Essex, on 17 and 18 October (held in 2007). VEGA and TSO will be speaking on the conference alongside C4ISTAR stakeholders including: Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen Andrew Figgures CBE; Capability Manager (Information Superiority), AVM Stu Butler; Director Equipment Capability (Command, Control, and Information Infrastructure), Brig Simon Shadbolt; and Director Equipment Capability (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance), Air Cmdre ‘Flash’ Gordon.
